Wrote a new song today and demoed it.  The song would be for someone else so it was cool to take a break from writing for myself and switch gears.

Writing Session

So this pictures doesn't quite fit but once again, I forget to take a picture during the day!  I had a writing session today.  Writing with someone else is always a welcomed change and it usually sparks ideas in my head which is always good!

Progress

One of the new songs I've been working on, "Breathe",is now 90% done.  I'm pretty happy with today's progress!

Unleashing the Power Within

Okay, some people may find it cheesy or think it's a waste of time...but I like listening to Tony Robbins and I think he's fantastic at getting people out of their own way and seeing what their potential is.  I watched a great episode of Oprah's "Master Class" today that had Tony on it.  It was really inspirational and a lot of what he said rang true with me and where I'm at right now.  These are some great quotes that stuck with me:
"See it as it is, not worse than it is"

Organization

I've been meaning to organize my pictures for months now and finally did it today. Exciting? No. But it got something off my list and I do love clear boxes that organize my life :)

Music and Friends

I forgot to take a picture while I was at a rehearsal tonight (big surprise) so this pic is lame but I had a really great time tonight. It's fun to play other types if music than I usually do and to hang out with friends and get out of my head a bit.

Dressing the Part

So it's not the most exciting picture but I'm getting SO bad at taking pictures when I'm out and about.  I went shopping today to get some clothes that are "performance" attire.  I usually tend to purchase comfy, hanging-out-on-the-weekend clothes and so when I have a gig I get all "what am I going to wear?"  So I was on a mission to get dressier things and I was in luck!

Vocal Lessons and Inspiration

I had a fantastic voice lesson today.  I'm always motivated and inspired when I leave her lessons because I get forced out of my comfort zone.  Sometimes I get stuck in a rut when I'm working and writing alone and it's always great to have someone challenge you and be a sound board.  Feeling good!

Cuteness Beyond Words

All is Blooming

Took a walk w my mom, sister and dog today. The weather was amazing and everything is blooming already!  The trees and flowers are beautiful and it was a great end to a great weekend. Awesome weather makes me very happy :)

One Is The Loneliest Number....But That Can Be Fixed

I had a gig tonight in Atlanta.  It was my first one since being back from L.A. and it was exactly what I needed.  Writing songs can be a lonely profession.  You're in a room, usually alone, writing personal songs about things that have affected you or someone you know.  You put your blood, sweat and tears into and hope that someone (other than you or your Mom) will like it and find a connection to it.
I've been doing a lot of writing lately and had really missed that feeling you get when you perform for other people and interact with strangers/new comers to your music.  I also missed putting myself in a situation that would allow me to see what (if any) connection people had to my music.
It was such a fantastic crowd tonight and I felt beyond welcomed and appreciated.  They listened (which is ALWAYS a nice change of pace) and had such kind words to say.  It really helped "recharge" my batteries and put me in a good head space.  So, if you were there...thank you.
(oh, and this pictures was from sound check.  There actually were people in the room when the music was happening. ha)

I've been working on some new covers. I love taking current songs and singing them in my own way...really deconstructing them and making them different. I also had a writing session yesterday and have had the song stuck in my head all day. Cant wait to work on it tomorrow!
